| AUSTIN is an absolutely adorable Aussie who is now about 10 mos. old. He wags ALL OVER when he gets excited, which is frequently!! He is crate-trained, housebroken, but we are still working on some of his more refined manners - like jumping up & counter-surfing! He just LOVES being outside to play, but is still very much puppy & plays too hard sometimes. He definitely needs more work on his leash training & walking, so we are working on that. Austin is a "special needs" pup because he was born deaf, but he already knows the hand signals for sit, off & we are working on quiet, stay & down. We have placed several deaf dogs as well as having our own Aussie who was also deaf from birth, so we have trained ALL our dogs to hand signals & it works beautifully. Comes in very handy sometimes when the humans have to be quiet!! He is quite a cute guy, with gorgeous markings & ears that flip over halfway when he wiggles around! He would really love to have a forever home & family of his own, he says please come visit him. UPDATE: He is having some neurological problems, has been seen twice by a wonderful qualified neurologist – Dr. Rebecca Windsor at The Hope Center in Vienna, VA who is continuing to keep tabs on him. He IS improving daily & is only exhibiting the earlier signs when confined to his crate. He is MUCH BETTER when out of the crate or outside. He is currently on 4 medications – Prednisone, Phenobarbital, Diazapam & Zonisamide which seem to be working well. We hope to take him off the Pred. soon. | If you are interested in adopting Austin, please read our adoption process for further information before calling. | | |
